In the previous chapter we learned
Which left us with an obvious question, How to secure it ? use WPA2-PSK.
WPA2-PSK, WiFi Protected Access – Pre Shared Key, is by far one of the most secure and unbroken wireless security encryption at this moment. There is no encryption flaw yet reported by security researchers for WPA2, so that a malicious hacker can easily take advantage of and easily decrypt packets.
Encryption might be the most secured and unbroken at this point, but WPA2 system is still pretty vulnerable to the hackers.
Unlike WEP, WPA2 uses a 4-way handshake as an authentication process. In which the key is never transmitted over the network but used to encrypt/decrypt the data packets across the network. That allows a hacker to just capture the handshake and perform the attack without Live capturing data packets as we did while cracking WEP.

Just like the broadcast packets we saw in the previous chapter using wireshark, the 4-way handshake is also in plain text. Which allows a potential hacker to capture the plaintext information like
*Access point MAC address
*Client MAC address
*ESSID – AP Name
Information above is used by the hacker to perform a dictionary attack on the captured 4-way handshake (PCAP File). Let’s see
*What is a dictionary attack ?

Hashing is one of the keys used in the security field professional to protect the users from the malicious attackers.
Hash is simply a cryptographic function that converts a data or file of an arbitrary length or size to a fixed length, which is considered practically impossible to invert or reversed, as no key is involved in the process.Crack Cap File Without Dictionary Definitions Francais
A Hash is always unique
In a dictionary attack,
*We create/use a wordlist (text file of possible passwords)
*Take a word at a moment from the wordlist
*Create its hash using the Hash function, PBKDF2 for WPA2
*Compare the output value with the existing hash.
*If value matches, password taken from the wordlist is the correct password
Above steps are involved in the WPA2 passphrase cracking process.
Let’s begin,
Step 1: Start monitor mode
*sudo airmon-ng start wlan1 #Start monitor mode
Final output should look like this:
Step 2: Start capture, airodump-ng
We will now start airodump-ng to sniff the air and wait until the desired AP and corresponding client are displayed.
*airodump-ng wlan1mon
As you can see in the above image, “rootsh3ll” is the victim AP . We will now note the information highlighted
*AP (ESSID): rootsh3ll
*AP MAC (BSSID): 64:66:B3:6E:B0:8A
*Client MAC: 30:A8:DB:C6:88:13
*Channel: 11
Hit CTRL-C, and kill airodump-ng.
Now, we will start airodump-ng exclusively to capture packets associated with “rootsh3ll” and save the 4-way handshake in a PCAP file, say rootsh3ll
Step 3: Start airodump-ng exclusively
*airodump-ng –bssid 64:66:B3:6E:B0:8A -c 11 wlan1mon -w rootsh3ll
Here “rootsh3ll” is the output filename provided to the -w parameter
Step 4: Disconnect the client with aireplay-ng.
Now, are two ways for capturing the handshake,
*Wait for a client to connect.
*Disconnect the already connected client.
First option seems to be slow, time taking. Whether in our case, option 2 is just perfect as we have a client connected to the wireless AP “rootsh3ll”.
How does that work ? we use a utility from the aircrack-ng suite named aireplay-ng which allows us to craft and send a disconnect request to the desired AP with the information we noted down earlier.
We are actually abusing a legitimate Windows(or any other OS) feature. Which forces the wireless card to re connect to the AP when available.

*Client disconnects when receives the disconnect packet.
*Reconnect to the AP
*4-way handshake between AP and client
*Hacker captures the 4-way handshake
let’s disconnect the client now,
Open a new Terminal window and type:
*aireplay-ng –deauth 5 -a 64:66:B3:6E:B0:8A wlan1mon
parameters applied:
–deauth 5: 5 deauth requests broadcasted with BSSID “rootsh3ll”, 0 for endless
-a: parameter to tell aireplay-ng the BSSID
wlan1mon: monitor mode interface
Step 5: Capture the handshake
Meanwhile in the terminal window of airodump-ng, you would notice the top of the output. which says
*WPA Handshake: 64:66:B3:6E:B0:8A
Which simply means that the WPA handshake has been capture for the specific BSSID, which is the AP MAC of rootsh3ll.
Hit CTRL-C, as the handshake has been captured, we will now crack the password using the captured handshake
Step 6: How does a Handshake looks like? Open Wireshark (Optional)
This step is optional, you can open the PCAP file(rootsh3ll-01.cap) in Wireshark for manual inspection, or to see how does a handshake looks like.
Type in terminal wireshark [.cap file], which in our case is
*wireshark rootsh3ll-01.cap
*Type “eapol” in the filter field, press [ENTER]
You would notice the last column, “Info” is showing a message no. from 1 to 4.
This is the 4 way handshake happened during the capture. It is like AP and Client are talking to each other. Notice the Source and Destination tab.

Step 7: Cracking
Here’s an ugly truth
WPA2 password cracking is not deterministic like WEP, because it is based on a dictionary of possible words and we do not know whether the passphrase is in the dictionary or not. So you are never sure whether a specific dictionary will just work or not.
For this tutorial I have beautifully crafted a wordlist, just to demonstrate how the output of the cracked password would look like. Command and the wordlist looks like this:
Here I have directly saved the password in the wordlist to demonstrate how the output would look like, your will be different, obviously.
let’s fire up aircrack-ng and crack the key
Type in terminal, aircrack-ng [.cap file] -w [wordlist], which in our case looks like
*aircrack-ng rootsh3ll-01.cap -w dict
and aircrack-ng has cracked the password in one go.
This is quite odd to see the cracked passphrase for the first time, right ? Neospeech tts voices download.

Use a strong password to stay safe,
Example: Myp@sword8@#, is a strong password
As it has
*No order in plain English language
*13 Character password, very secured
*Alpha-numeric and special characters in one makes a very strong password.
*Upper and Lower-case characters.
*No pattern
*Not a mobile number, as mobile numbers can be easily guessed.
Or you can just keep a password with some special characters, a word that isn’t a pattern or a dictionary word.
That will also be good and secured.Conclusion

Finally I tried your solution and installed the older driver ALC3289 and hey presto I’ve got the pop up box back so that I can tell my laptop I. Which device did you plug in windows 10. Before you can reinstall such a device, you must first find this ’phantom’ devnode, and mark it as needing reinstallation. Then, when the device is plugged back in, Plug and Play will reenumerate the device, find the new driver for it, and install the driver for the device. To reinstall an unplugged device: Call the SetupCopyOEMInf function. Press Windows + R, type control panel and then hit Enter, select Hardware and Sound. Scroll down and select Realtek HD Audio Manager. Click the folder icon just above and to the right of where it says analog back panel and just below Device Advanced settings. Uncheck Enable auto popup dialog when device has been plugged in.

In this admittedly sexist arrangement, the girls can end up being quite influential, inspiring the love or lust that comes blaring out of speakers turned to 11 -- thus Buell’s preference for ’muse.’ Numerous songs were written about her by her rock star lovers, including Rundgren’s ’Can We Still Be Friends?’ and Costello’s ’I Want You.’ While charming her way into the hearts of the most prominent musicians, the ’Mother of Rock and Roll’ was also tending to her own career as a model and singer. All the way back to the young age of five, Beverle Lorence “Bebe” Buell was obsessed with rock ‘n’ roll. She considered Mick Jagger (with whom she would later have an affair) her biggest inspiration and would stand in front of the mirror imitating his dance moves. After graduating high school, her passion and beauty led her to agent Eileen Ford of Ford Modeling Agency who signed Buell and relocated her from Virginia Beach, Virginia to the electrifying New York City. Buell immediately became a modeling star in the Big Apple and she immersed herself into Manhattan’s music scene befriending all of the top rockers in the area. Her captivating charisma drew everyone into her presence hoping to at least become her friend.

Buell was hanging out and drinking wine with acclaimed photographer Lynn Goldsmith one night, when Goldsmith asked if they could take some “artsy” pictures. “Artsy” was photographer code for “nude” and so Buell was photographed baring it all for the first time. Impressed, Goldsmith brought the pictures to Playboy magazine, who instantly wanted to work with her after admiring her stunning photos. Buell was flown to Chicago to stay at the original Playboy mansion and thus became the first fashion model turned Playboy centerfold and was Miss November 1974. Mail merge on a mac excel to word. Buell was notorious for her many love affairs with top rockers including David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, Rod Stewart, Elvis Costello, and the list goes on. Buell was nicknamed “Friend To The Stars” as she befriended (not just dated) all the celebrities she met which even included Jack Nicholson and Andy Warhol. People flocked to her “legendary beauty” and Mick Jagger even once said she would be the woman he would bring if he were to dine with royalty. The most famous of all her relationships was her on-and-off again romance with Todd Rundgren from 1972 to 1978. Scandal ensued with Buell’s accidental pregnancy in 1976 when the father was not her long-term boyfriend Todd Rundgren. Buell was impregnated from her quick fling with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, but realized he would not make the greatest father with his heavy drug abuse during the ‘70s. Buell, Tyler, and Rundgren came to an agreement that Todd would raise the child as her father to provide a more stable family environment. If they felt it was needed, the secret would be revealed when she turned 18. However, their daughter, future model/actress Liv Tyler, became suspicious as she grew older so Buell disclosed the truth about her father when she turned 11 in 1988. Throughout Buell’s entire journey, her true goal was to become a singer from the very beginning. Buell and Patti Smith had formed a close friendship and spent wine-filled nights writing poetry and singing together which was why Buell called Smith one of her biggest inspirations. In 1981, Buell finally released her debut EP Covers Girl, produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars and Rick Derringer, with The Cars backing each of the four songs. Two years later, Buell formed a group called The B-Sides and released A Side Of The B-Sides which was produced by her former lover Todd Rundgren. She then broke musical boundaries of the time with The Gargoyles, a hard rock band she fronted during an era where women leading edgy bands was a rare commodity. Buell established a great musical name for herself with The Gargoyles as they toured throughout the United States and The UK, eventually opening up for The Ramones for numerous shows. Nevertheless, news about Steven Tyler’s paternity with Buell broke out in 1991 and forced Buell to back off from the public to focus on her daughter. When you connect a device to your computer using a USB cable to the USB port (shown), the device identifies itself to the computer. This identification process is called plug and play. Ideally, you connect your device, and it simply works. Windows 10 uses a device driver to communicate with an add-on device. The driver is really a program that. Device Manager displays only non-Plug and Play devices, drivers, and printers when you click Show hidden devices on the View menu. Devices that you install that are not connected to the computer (such as a Universal Serial Bus USB device or ’ghosted’ devices) are not displayed in Device Manager, even when you click Show hidden devices.
In the past I had used headphones (no microphone) with my windows 10 laptop. Back then a popup would come up saying ’what device have you plugged in’ every time I plugged them into the jack. However I clicked the ’do not display’ icon so now when I want to use my headset (with microphone) to be able to use the microphone to talk to people on. The UWP provides a guaranteed core API layer across devices, eliminating the complexity of and problems often associated with writing kernel-level drivers.
Connect the device and UNCHECK the box ’Open iTunes when this iphone is connected’ and click Apply. Now restart iTunes and this time CHECK the box again and click apply. This time, it may ask you to install iTuneshelper. Restart computer, and connect your device to see whether it will automatically launch iTunes.

When compliant with conditional access policies, Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) issues a short-lived (by default, 60 minutes) IP Security (IPsec) authentication certificate that can then be used to authenticate to the VPN gateway. Device compliance uses Configuration Manager/Intune compliance policies, which can include the device health attestation state as part of the connection compliance check.Azure MFAWhen combined with Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) services and the Network Policy Server (NPS) extension for Azure MFA, VPN authentication can use strong MFA.Third-party VPN plug-inWith the Universal Windows Platform (UWP), third-party VPN providers can create a single application for the full range of Windows 10 devices. The primary improvements in security are in the following areas:Key improvementDescriptionTraffic filtersThrough traffic filters, you can specify client-side policies that determine which traffic is allowed into the corporate network. In this way, administrators can apply app or traffic restrictions on the VPN interface, limiting its use to specific sources, destination ports, and IP addresses. Two types of filtering rules are available:
*App-based rules. App-based firewall rules are based on a list of specified applications so that only traffic originating from these apps are permitted to go over the VPN interface.
*Traffic-based rules. Traffic-based firewall rules are based on network requirements like ports, addresses, and protocols. Use these rules only for traffic that matches these specific conditions are permitted to go over the VPN interface.
Note:
These rules apply only to traffic outbound from the device. Use of Traffic filters blocks inbound traffic from the corporate network to the client. Per-App VPNPer-App VPN is like having an app-based traffic filter, but it goes farther to combine application triggers with an app-based traffic filter so that VPN connectivity is constrained to a specific application as opposed to all applications on the VPN client. The feature automatically initiates when the app starts.Support for customized IPsec cryptography algorithmsAlways On VPN supports the use of both RSA and elliptic curve cryptography–based custom cryptographic algorithms to meet stringent government or organizational security policies.Native Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) supportAlways On VPN natively supports EAP, which allows you to use a diverse set of Microsoft and third-party EAP types as part of the authentication workflow. EAP provides secure authentication based on the following authentication types:

The Mail Merge feature of Microsoft Word is one of my favorite parts of the program. It is extremely powerful for creating labels and customized letters, emails, or reports. Once you learn how to use it, you can save countless hours of work. Unfortunately, the task of learning to master all of its idiosyncrasies can give you countless headaches.
One of the perennial annoyances of Mail Merge is its inability to format numbers from an Excel spreadsheet correctly. For example, a sales result in Excel appears as 100 but in Word it suddenly becomes 99.99999999996!
Fortunately, there is a way to fix this. In fact, there are three ways. We can modify the spreadsheet, modify the Mail-Merge document, or simply modify the way the two files connect to each other. Although this last approach is little known, it might be best approach—except for one giant detail: It no longer works for Word 2016.
[Note for users of various versions of Microsoft Office: The steps presented here are for Office 2016 as of August 2018, but the steps needed for older and newer versions of Word and Excel are very similar if not identical.]
The first way is to avoid the problem: In the Excel worksheet, insert a column with a formula that converts the Excel numbers or dates into a text format that is exactly the same as what you would want to appear in your Mail Merge document.
To do this, you need to use Excel’s TEXT function, which enables you to convert a number or date into its equivalent text formatted exactly the way you desire. The downside is that you need to know certain formatting codes. Although these codes are identical to those used in the Custom Number formatting feature of Excel, they are rarely seen by most Excel users.
For example, the formulas TEXT(B3, “$#,##0.00”) and TEXT(C5, “M/dd/yy”) convert number and date data into textual data (in this case, “$12,345.67” and “12/01/10”).
(Tip: It is a good idea to format the cells containing these formulas in a different style, say, italic, or some unusual color to remind you that these numbers are simply text. In older versions of Excel, these “numbers” could not be used in calculations. In Excel 2016, they can be used in all formulas except aggregate functions, such as, SUM and AVERAGE.)
The advantage of formatting numbers and dates as text is that text is transported from Excel into a Word Mail Merge document unmolested. Well, almost unmolested. Formatting options such as font, size, and color do not make the trip.Format Codes for Excel’s TEXT Function
A collection of the most commonly used codes is presented at the right. A key thing to remember is that both “0” and “#” act as placeholders for digits, but “0” will force leading or trailing zeros to appear. The “#” placeholder will be replaced by a digit only if it is not a leading or trailing zero. Thus, the code “00000” will ensure that the leading zero is not truncated from New Jersey postal zip codes.
These codes for numbers, dates, and times can be used in the TEXT function or in Excel’s Custom number formats. As an extra bonus, they can also be used in the “Numeric Switches” in Word Mail-Merge Fields described in the next section.
Unfortunately, there is a slight difference between the way these codes work in Excel and Word in Microsoft Office 2013. In Excel, you can use either “M” or “m” for months or minutes. In almost all cases, Excel is smart enough to figure out which units you are talking about. But Word is not so smart, and you must use the capitalized letter to refer to months. Also, Excel has an additional code, “MMMMM”, which returns a single letter abbreviation for the month (e.g., “J, F, M, A, …”).
Supplementing a spreadsheet table with a few columns featuring TEXT functions is a simple and direct approach. Just remember that these cells may look like they contain numbers, but they cannot be used in SUM or AVERAGE functions. If you need to convert them into numbers again, just use the VALUE function.Handle with Care: The ROUND Function
Instead of the TEXT() function, some users prefer to use the ROUND() function to trim off extra decimal places. As its name implies, Excel’s ROUND() function will permanently round a number up or down to the number of decimal places you specify. The advantage is that the rounded number is not text and can still be used for further calculations. In many cases, the ROUND() function will work well with Mail Merge, but you may want to steer clear of it because of the following reasons:
*The ROUND function will not preserve the dollar sign or the thousands separator (comma)
*The ROUND function will truncate trailing zeros
*The ROUND function sometimes causes Mail Merge to display the wrong number of decimal places. For example, a Mail Merge document occasionally shows 4 decimal places when the ROUND function had specified 2 or 3.
In rare cases, the ROUND function causes Mail Merge to show a slightly different number. For example, instead of displaying 1.0014, Mail Merge showed 1.0013.
Okay. But let’s say that you can’t or don’t want to change your Excel spreadsheet. Well, there is something we can do in Word:
The second way to cajole Mail Merge into displaying numbers from Excel correctly is to modify the Word document. Specifically, this means applying the desired number format code to the Merge Fields in the Word document. (The merge fields basically tell the Word document which column in the Excel table has the desired data.) To apply a format to a field, you must include a numeric switch (formerly called a picture switch) in the field’s field code.
The first thing you have to do is to see the actual field code. Open the Mail Merge document and click the Mailings tab at the top of the window. Be sure the Preview Results button is toggled off so that you can see the Mail-Merge fields. Then right-click a Mail-Merge field (such as «Donation») and choose the Toggle Field Code option. You should now see the actual field code for that field, which is designated by curly braces as in { MERGEFIELD Donation }. Now edit the field code by simply inserting a numeric switch code to the end of the field code, as in
There are many picture codes available. Here are four examples with their respective results:
As you can see, the numeric switch codes are identical to the Excel formatting codes except that they are preceded by “#” for numbers and “@” for dates. (Note the use of quotation marks in the date code but not in the number codes.) In light of the fact that Word and Excel use the same formatting codes, we could not help wondering why they don’t use the same function format. For example, why not have the MergeField function look something like:
Good question. You’ll have to ask Microsoft.
Note: Before you start cursing me out, try to remember that when you add or change a numeric switch, the effect may not be shown immediately. You either have to update the field (right-click it and choose Update Field), or click the button Mailings > Preview Results. On one occasion I had to do this 2 or 3 times. If you are using the Mail-Merge Wizard, you may have to go back a step and return to see the effect of your changes. (Why? Again, you will have to ask Microsoft.)
The numeric switches in merge fields work well, but I find the process very difficult to remember. (“Is it a forward slash or a back slash?”) Also, it is very easy to make a mistake. Fortunately, for some users there is another way:
The above approaches are relatively simple, but if you have more than a few fields that require formatting, they can drive you into early retirement. At the very least, they require you to remember format codes that, while similar, are used in very different ways.
A much more elegant and simple solution is to have Word link to the Excel workbook via a DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) link rather than the usual, presumably non-dynamic, linking process. That sounds a little daunting, but if you are smart enough to do Mail Merge, then DDE can a piece of cake. It is a simple two-step process, and the first step — enabling Word to open a file via DDE — has to be done only once.Mail Merge Word For Mac With Excel Converter Not Found Error
[Does DDE work in Office 2016?Dynamic Data Exchange is an old technology, and it looks like Microsoft is in the process of pulling the plug on it. Sometimes it works for me in Office 2016, and sometimes it doesn’t.
The trick appears to be that the Excel data source must be open before you access it from Word. As usual for Excel data sources, the table must begin on the first row of the first worksheet in the workbook file. If you do this, and have some patience, you should be able to get it to work.]
To set up Word 2013 for DDE links, do the following:
*Click: File > Options.
*Click the Advanced tab on the left and scroll down to the section General.
*Check the box labeled Confirm file format conversion on open.
That’s all for the first step, and you never have to do it again. From now on, your copy of Word can open up many different types of files, and can open these by different avenues, including DDE. The only side effect of the above is that every time you open a non-Word file with Word, the program will give you a chance to change your mind. No problem.
The second and last step has to be done each time you select a data source for your Mail Merge operation (either in Step 3 of Word’s Mail Merge Wizard or after you press the Select Recipients button in the Mailings ribbon). Relax. It is just three additional mouse clicks:
*After you have chosen the data file you would like to use, a new “Confirm Data Source” dialog box will appear.
*The default type of link is by OLE, but that is not what you want.
*In the Confirm Data Source dialog box, click the check box to Show all.
*In the expanded list of file types, choose MS Excel Worksheets via DDE (*.xls). (Choose this even if you are using the newer Excel file format: *.xlsx.)
*If asked, confirm that you are selecting the Entire Spreadsheet.
If you have already selected a spreadsheet for your Word document, you may have to select it again, this time via a DDE link. That’s it! From now on, your Excel formatting will travel over to Word Mail Merge documents fairly intact. One huge caveat here: Make sure that the data you want to merge are in the first sheet of your Excel workbook. (It took us two hours to finally figure out that DDE does not see anything but the first Excel worksheet!)
It is a shame that Microsoft has not replaced DDE with a new technology that works in a similar manner. When DDE worked, it was marvelous. Let’s hope an equally marvelous technology will appear in the near future. Mail Merge Word For Mac With Excel Converter Not Found Windows 10
